Home

I just realized that I haven't posted anything about our new home since we moved in.  Sometimes I feel overwhelmed when I think about our beautiful home.  Overwhelmed with how blessed we are, overwhelmed with how perfect it is for us, overwhelmed with how much stuff we DON'T have, overwhelmed that Christmas is here and I have approximately ZERO decorations, overwhelmed that three months later (Can you believe it's been that long already?) we still have boxes what feels like everywhere, overwhelmed that its actually mine...  Nick says I'm being silly.  I probably am.  My Christmas list consists solely of items for the house.
Sometimes I feel a little bit like that book, "If you give a Mouse a Cookie"
If you give a girl a house, she will want new couches.  If you buy her new couches, she will need cute pillows to dress up those couches.  Once she sees the pillows, she will realize how naked the walls are and will want a giant clock.  If you get her a giant clock, she will realize that it is time for some new bedding....  And so on and so forth.

Sigh.  I love my house.  It is so much more than just a house, it is a home.  It is amazing, and wonderful, and gorgeous, and perfect, and mine.  I know that if will take time to make it look exactly the way I want it to look and upgrade my ancient hand me down furniture from my parents to new furniture, but It will get there.  For now, I am content just to be able to walk around in my underwear, so if you want to come visit, we'd LOVE to have you (we even have a guest bed for you to sleep in!) but just make sure you call first...

I am not Pregnant

I just want to preface this post by making it very clear that I am not pregnant.

With that said, I have some opinion questions for everybody.  Nick and I have been discussing baby related things with more frequency as of late, and one of the topics that came up was whether or not we wanted to find out the sex of the baby when we eventually get pregnant.  He said he didn't have an opinion either way, and that whatever I wanted to do would be fine with him.  The trouble is...  I don't know what I want to do either!  My mom thinks it should be a surprise, which makes me want to find out just to do my own thing, lol, but I can see her point of why it is so special to be a surprise.
Here are my thoughts:

Pros:

  • Special moment in the delivery room finding out together
  • Other people's horrified reactions when the hear you're not finding out
  • Excuse for everyone to get together after the baby is born for my shower
  • Excuse to do the nursery in pretty black and white or grey and white and add in pops of color once baby arrives
  • Excited phone call I get to make to everyone, "ITS A _____!!!!"
  • We could pick out a name that felt right once the baby was here instead of already having one picked that might not fit as well
Cons:
  • Makes it difficult to get the nursery ready ahead of time, creating more work after baby comes
  • I wouldn't be able to go crazy making all sorts of fun things for baby before hand (could be a pro - might save a lot of money...)
  • We wouldn't already have the name picked out thereby raising my stress level (If it were up to me, we would have all of our kids already named... now.)
  • Baby shower would be pre-baby ensuring I have everything I need in advance

What are your thoughts?  If we found out, it would be for practical reasons.  If we didn't, it would be for sentimental ones.  When the time comes, should we find out or let it be a surprise?  To find out or not to find out, that is the question.

Somebody call the "Wah"mbulance

If you don't feel like reading about all the things I'm going to whine about, then you can stop reading.  If you want to indulge me, and maybe even leave me a supportive comment, feel free to continue.

Do you ever feel like this?

This was me at Halloween (the young men and young women all performed the Thriller dance at our church Halloween party, hence the awesome zombie-ness).  But sometimes, okay, a lot of times, I feel like this on a regular day... minus the green tint and maybe the blood.  It's not a fun day when I feel like this.

I'm struggling to believe in my photography "business."  I feel like photography is one of the few things I'm actually good at, but it seems like every time I put myself out there and try to book jobs all I hear are crickets chirping...

I've turned into one of those "busy" people, and I hate it.  I don't have kids, I shouldn't be this busy.  I feel like I never have time to do the things I love anymore, and I haven't even had time to put my house together, hence the lack of pictures.

My job sucks.  Big time.

Christmas is only a month and a half away, and I haven't even THOUGHT about gifts, let alone started shopping.  Gasp!  Normally by now I have everything all planned out and mostly purchased by now.  I am majorly stressing.

Even with all that nonsense, I still feel incredibly blessed and feel like I have a lot of really good things going for me.  2011 has been an amazing year for Nick and I, and I can hardly believe that it's almost over.  I already know that next year is going to hold wonderful things as well, if only because Zachary comes home from his mission in August/September.  I already have a couple of New Years Resolutions, and they're good ones, but I'll save those for another post.

Is anybody out there?  Anybody miss my posts?
