So, I may be slightly biased, seeing as it was my own baby shower, but it was the most amazing, most gorgeous, most perfect baby shower I've ever been too. There was so much thought and love put into every aspect, from the big things down to the littlest details. I couldn't believe how beautiful everything was when I walked into the room, it literally took my breath away (no, that wasn't Ginger kicking me in the lungs...). I am so incredibly grateful for the amount of work that went into making the night perfect and for each and every person that came to celebrate this sweet girl with me. I had people come from near and far to shower Ginger with love and gifts. I couldn't possibly ask for better family and friends. The amount of support and love I have had throughout this pregnancy is staggering, and it was definitely evident at my shower. About halfway through I was having trouble continuing because I just felt so overwhelmed. Overwhelmed with gratitude, love, and humility... and thinking about it now brings back all of those feelings and I'm overwhelmed all over again.
A special thanks to Shillawna Ruffner for taking all of the pictures. Isn't she wonderful?
The Details:
Beautiful cake made to look like a vintage hat box.
Table in the entry way set up with baby items of mine and Nick's. My coming home from the hospital outfit and first pair of walking shoes (close-up of those below) and a Nick's baby blanket.
These beautiful shoes were my first pair of walking shoes, and were bought for me by my Grandma Kitterman who is also lending her name for our sweet girl's middle name. I wish she could have been there. Its hard to believe she's been gone for ten years now.
The desserts! I was SOOO good and didn't have any. It was not easy, but thankfully my mom got me a box of dark chocolate covered almonds so I could have a sweet treat too!
The favors. I love my necklace and wear it all the time.
One of my favorite parts of the night. All the guests were asked to buy a book in lieu of a card, and my mom wanted to share the book she bought - called Someday. She bought it for us the day we left on our honeymoon and as been waiting just over six years to be able to give it to us. I have yet to be able to bring myself to read the book, or the message she wrote inside because I start bawling everytime I go to pick it up. Someday...
Just a few of the books we got. I am an avid reader - I read almost every night before I go to bed, and was so excited to build up my children's library. I plan on reading to Ginger every night in hopes to instill in her a love of reading as well.
Family and Friends:
My immediate family (minus Christine who got caught in traffic coming from LA)
My mom, sister, sister-in-law and my second mom, Sarah and "sisters." The Stewarts might as well be family...
Me and my Momma. "Gigi." I love her more than words can express.
My in-laws. So grateful for their support, and excited for Abby to meet her cousin! Abby and Ginger will only be three and a half months apart.
Me and my sister. She actually moved back home from Arizona the weekend of the shower and I have absolutely loved having her around more and am so glad she will get to be here when Ginger is born!!
The McHugh ladies. I am so glad my Grandma, Trish, and Riley could come out from Arizona to be there! And that Christine braved the LA traffic. I'm not sure who had a tougher trip!
Three generations of oldest girls, with another on the way! I think it is so cool that an oldest girl had an oldest girl, who had an oldest girl, who is now having an oldest girl. Pretty darn amazing.
All in all, it was an incredible and unforgettable night. This sweet girl is pretty much set. She got a plethora of adorable clothes and tons of other fun stuff. We also got everything we need to be able to bring her home from the hospital, bathe her, and even a place to for her to sleep until we get our crib.
