Picture This...

For this post, you will have to use your imagination. I did not take any pictures of these monumentous events, so I will use my words to create images in your mind's eye...
The weekend started out ordinarily enough with work on Saturday, but after work Nick and I got to go out with his family for his sister Cassie and Aunt Jill's birthdays. For the celebration, we went to this little whole in the wall all-you-can-eat Chinese food buffet. It definitely is not the best Chinese food I've had, but Nick's family absolutely raves about it. After dinner, we went back to his parent's house and opened presents.
Sunday we went over to my parent's house to celebrate my Mom's birthday. We all pitched in to make Gyoza (japanese for potstickers) mmmmm! My dad's best buddy from high school went to Japan on his mission and gave my dad the recipe. They are quite yummy. We all decided that when my dad died, it would be very sad because none of the rest of us can cook the gyoza. I wrote a song about it: "Bye, bye Mr. Gyoza guy. I say 'you go now!' because you scare my wife" (set to the tune of Miss American Pie, and sang with an Asian accent) It probably isn't funny to anyone else but my family, but I thought I'd share. After dinner we played Clue, my mom's favorite board game, but this was no ordinary game of Clue. About halfway through the game, we all knew that Colonel Mustard had done it with the lead pipe, but we still had to figure out what room he did it in... so we went around to all of the rooms and marked them off one by one, by one, by one... until we had them all marked off... My brother was the first to speak up and he said he thought he had gotten mark happy and accidently crossed off a room that he shouldn't have, but then all of us said that we had all the rooms crossed off too, so we checked the packet of cards in the center and realized that my dad had accidently put in two people and a weapon instead! It was the most fun I've ever had playing Clue! Then we hurried into the living room and started a world tour on Rock Band with Zack on drums, Dad on bass, Sierra on lead guitar, and Me on vocals. Our favorite song by far, and one we've been trying to unlock since Christmas was the Blue Oyster Cult song featured on the Cow Bell skit. One of the cool features is that the lead singer can clap the mike and "play" the tambourine or the cow bell! So I took the opportunity to chanel Will Ferrel and was completely rocking out on the Cow Bell. It was awesome. We played for a couple of hours and would have played longer but Nick and I had a 35 minute drive home. I really wish I had a video of us rocking out to that song. All in all it was a fun weekend hanging out with our families.
The only dark spot in the weekend was Sunday night when we found out the President Hinckley had passed on. He will be greatly missed by all the members of the Church. He was an amazing man with so much energy, faith, humility, and love for each Latter Day Saint. I'm sad to see him go, but grateful that he got called home and can finally be with Sister Hinckley again. I know he missed her very much, and I don't know how I could survive if anything ever happened to Nick. I suppose that we should all find comfort in knowing that President Hinckley was an incredible servant of the Lord and filled his calling here on earth with all the energy he possessed and that he has now returned to our Father in Heaven and our Savior Jesus Christ.
I love you all and want you to know you are in my prayers.
