I love My Brother

As most of you know, my younger brother Zachary is currently serving a mission for our church in the Merida, Mexico Mission.  This week I got an email from him, and I just really wanted to share part of it with you.

"this week was pretty chill. although i had one cool experience i wanted to share with you. We have been trying to see a new move-in for a couple of weeks now, but she has never been home. finally we caught her at her house. It was pretty much empty except for a new fridge and washer, and some food on the counter. they still hadn't unpacked all their stuff.
she is 25, been married for 3 or 4 years, no kids yet, has a brother on a mission, and works at a bank. sound familiar? the only difference was, her husband was not a member. we stood in the door way for an hour and a half listening to her story. it saddened me immensely. Her inlaws hated her. Her husband didn't want to listen to the missionaries and it seemed that her life was slowly falling apart piece by piece. I then realized how grateful i am to have such a great older sister as an example. You were strong enough and patient enough to wait to be married in the temple. There is nothing worth more than having an eternal family, and i am proud to say that my older sister knows the value of that. I love you sis"

This letter was especially poignant and touching for me right now.  I worry whether or not I was a good example to my younger brother and sister.  And lately I have been constantly worrying whether or not I will be a good example to the young women I am serving at church... whether or not I will be a good example to my children.  It eases my mind to know that my brother looks up to me as an example, because he is such an example to me, and if I can be an example for him, then maybe I can be an example to my young women and my future children as well.
